The fundraising Bos-bury Bonanza event on the playing fields of Bosbury Primary School last Saturday attracted a crowd estimated at over 600 strong.

The event put £1,600 into the fighting fund to provide a Jubilee play area for the village.

A total of 300 tickets were sold on the gate, but that figure does not take into account the large numbers of children who attended the event.

The organising Jubilee Playground Committee said the high turn out was "an indication of the high level of support we have for the playground from the local community".

Attractions included a free fall parachute display, tug of war, duck racing, welly wanging and various stalls.

There was also a prize draw, with the top prize of a helicopter flight.

The playground, if built, will be situated by the village hall and cost around £10,000 to construct.

On top of their own fund-raising efforts, the members of the Jubilee Comm-ittee are also considering applying for Lottery money, and also windfalls from various trusts.

The committee has gained "in principle" support from the Parish Hall Committee and Bosbury Parish Council for the project, though meetings are to be arrang-ed, to discuss the issues further.

If built, the play area could benefit up to 60 children of primary school age and younger.
