MAY I use a small section of your letters page to complain bitterly about the state of our roads with a few of my questions and proposed solutions.

Is there a surplus of pot hole marking paint and a shortage of tarmac? Solution - sell all the paint in stock and with the money buy some tarmac.

Are there too many hole marking people employed and is there a shortage of pot hole fillers in? Solution - cut out the pot hole markers and put them pot hole filling, after all the pot holes are easy enough to see.

Something must be done very soon or the paint will be worn away by traffic or disappear into the very holes its marking leaving the poor blokes filing in the pot holes not knowing where to put the black stuff.

Having found a hole officially marked dare the Indians (hole fillers) exceed the mark the chiefs have made by one inch (sorry 25mm).

Would it not be a better plan to send out a party of men together with tarmac and equipment and instruct them to fill in all the holes that need filing say from A to B or from North Malvern to the spout on the West Malvern Road or wherever and cut out the middle man and so saving quite a lot of money or would this be too easy and simple.
