Through the Malvern Gazette I would like people to know that not all of the residents on the Guarlford Road estate want the Avon Close play area to close, in fact there are very few.

The questionnaire that was distributed around the estate in February of this year was very misleading in the way that the questions were worded. I read all 193 comments from residents and out of those only eight said to close the play area.

My property backs onto the play area and I'm not denying that there have been problems with older teenagers, but it is not every day. Weeks can go past with no trouble at all.

We are now into the fifth week of the school summer holidays and there has been no sign of any trouble. In fact, I have been very aware of the increased amount of younger children using the park.

Yes, they make a noise, that's what children do when they're playing tag and football etc. But does this warrant the closure of the park?

On an estate with an increasing amount of traffic and its speed, I would much rather listen to children playing football in the safety of the park than hear of a child being hit by a car because there wasn't a park to play in!
