Songs from some of the world's greatest musicals were relayed in concert by a versatile and skilled group of musicians: singers Amanda Leigh-Smith, Katie Leeming, David Fawsett and Andy Reiss (also keyboard), and a three-piece band of great talent with musical director John Crawford.

Atmospheric jungle noises were produced very realistically by the band in excerpts from The Lion King, and a touching piano accompaniment was provided for the title song of Whistle Down the Wind.

Abba was emulated in Mamma Mia, and the significant lyrics of Our kind of Love from The Beautiful Game were delivered with conviction.

There was a selection from Blood Brothers and the closing medley was from Les Miserables. I dreamed a dream and Empty Chairs and Empty Tables, then 'Bring him home' sung with immense passion.

Occasionally decibels reached gigantic proportions, but lyrics were extremely clearly sung always. The full house enjoyed the ultra-polished presentation enormously. Jill Hopkins
