Original Britpop band, Oasis, have announced two dates at The NIA, Birmingham, on Wednesday, December 18, and Thursday, December 19.

Since their arrival on the British music scene in 1994, Mancunian brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher have become a UK rock phenomenon.

Their debut album, Definitely Maybe, released in August 1994, became the fastest-selling debut in British pop history, entering the charts at number one.

This was soon followed by number one albums What's The Story Morning Glory, in 1995 - the fastest-selling album in the UK - and Be Here Now, in August 1997.

After their number two album The Masterplan in 1998, Oasis enjoyed pole position once again with Standing On The Shoulder of Giants in February 2000, followed by a top five album later that year called Familiar To Millions.

Their latest album, Heathen Chemistry, stormed to number one on its release in July this year.

Heathen Chemistry has already spawned the number one hit single The Hindu Times and the number two single Stop Crying Your Heart Out.

The third single from this million selling album will be released on Monday, September 23, a double A side, Little By Little/She Is Love.

This recording also includes a version of The Who's My Generation, which became a firm favourite on the live set this year.

The band's UK success has been mirrored around the world, with the band currently on tour in the US.

This autumn, Oasis will play a variety of different venues, from 2,000 to 13,000 capacity stadiums in the UK, Europe, Japan and Australia, ending in two dates at Birmingham's NIA in December, where they last played in September, 1997.

Tickets, priced £28.50 plus booking fee, go on sale from 9am on Saturday, August 31, from the NIA box office on 0870 909 4144, or on-line at www.necgroup.co.uk/ boxoffice
