MALVERN: A 37-year-old man has denied wrecking headstones in a Malvern graveyard.

Jason Williams, of Sherrards Green Road, Malvern, pleaded not guilty to nine charges of criminal damage when he appeared before Worcester magistrates yesterday.

The alleged incident, in which eight headstones and a grave were said to be damaged, took place some time between Wednesday, May 29, and Saturday, June 1.

Williams also denied harassing Barbara Robinson between Wednesday, July 24, and Sunday, August 4, and faces two charges of burglary and one of attempted burglary.

He and a 15-year-old Malvern youth allegedly broke into a house on Sherrards Green Road and stole cigarettes worth £12.90, and cash, including foreign currency, worth £150.

Both denied the charges and will be committed to Worcester Crown Court to stand trial.

Williams will appear before magistrates again on Friday, October 4.
