ELVIS may have been the king of rock n roll, but in the colourful world of musical maestro's Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice he is also the pharaoh of ancient Egypt.

Rapturous applause followed the hip-swinging performance from Trevor Jary, who helped transform one of the world's favourite biblical tales into a musical extravaganza.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has returned to the Birmingham Hippodrome and theatre audiences can expect to be dazzled by a spectacular show brimming with immortal tunes, including Any Dream Will Do and Close Ev'ry Door.

Graham Tudor follows in the footsteps of Jason Donovan, Philip Schofield and Darren Day donning the kaleidoscopic coat, impeccably filling to role of Jacob's favourite son. He gave a faultless vocal performance, aided by the excellent acoustics of the newly refurbished Hurst Street theatre.

A cast as colourful as Joseph's coat had the crowded theatre on their feet with exceptional performances, including Trevor Jary, who was a hit as the Elvis-style pharaoh

This is a delightful show and I highly recommend anyone to go and see it. Also worth a mention is the excellent venue nestled in the hub of Birmingham's nightlife. The show runs until August 31. EMILY BRIDGEWATER
