THERE was a huge 76-strong turn out on Tuesday for the Starlets Veterans intersection event at Moorlands Farm.

First it was Northfield's two teams of ten battling it out against the Starlets VAS teams on the Meadow Pool and it was Stourbridge top rod Dave Bennett (Northfield Gold) who took the individual honours with waggler, corn and meat at peg 58 for 72-7-0.

Second was John Malkin (VAS Red) with 47-11-0 and third was Brian Hill's (Northfield Gold) 45-8-0. Top team was Northfield Gold with 32 points to VAS Red on 25.

The 36-man individual match was held on the Silver Carp Pool where Roger Banfield (Northfield) took first place by ledgering meat at peg 12 for 52-12-0.

At Woodlands View, the Affordable Open was held on Deans Pool with Worcester's Terry King (Greenman) outshining the rest of the field by taking a 123-5-0 catch with pole and corn from peg 38. Second went to Nigel Clark (Trabucco) with 80-0-0 and third was Mark Tooze's (Lifestyle) 75-1-0.

On Wednesday, the Astwood Fisheries Bluebell Pool Open was won by Bromsgrove's Dave James (Astwood) with a pole and meat catch of 26-11-0 from peg 17. Second, Paul Webley (Kateshill AC), took 24-9-0 and third was Pete Bailey (Droitwich Angling Centre) with 21-10-0.

At Moorlands Farm, the Meadow Pool Open was headed by Giles Cochrane (Pill Angling) with a 129-12-0 up in the water from peg 41. Second was Tooze (Lifestyle) with 96-4-0 and third was Bob Jones (Moorlands) with 84-2-0.

The Lodge Park Evening Open saw host club members fill the top places and it was match secretary Norman Bonner who showed the way with ground bait feeder, together with corn and worm cocktail on the hook to scale in at 29-8-0 from peg two. Second was Bob Henk with 27-2-0 and third, John Sumner, with 26-8-0.

On Thursday, the KH Veterans were at Elmbridge's Heron Pool with Mick Scott (Bewdley) taking first place from peg 13 with a pole, chopped worms and caster catch of 37-14-0. Mike Millinchip (Kidderminster) was second with 36-1-0 and third, Derek Buckle (Bewdley), with 34-0-0.

The Moorlands Farm Special Costcutter Open produced some very good catches and it was Lee Richards (Lifestyle) who did the business from Bank Pool peg 14 with a pole and corn catch of 159-10-0. Second was Paul Foster (Fosters MG) who had 106-3-0 and third was Harry Ward (Coleshill) with 103-3-0.

The Midland Bears Disabled AA was at Woodlands Views Deans Pool, which saw Keith Chambers (Shirley) pole fish strawberry meat at peg 57 for a top catch of 31-15-0. Second was Terry Shipley, 28-13-0, and third was Mick Hands with 26-2-0.

Klaus Fix (Tek Neek Trabucco) had yet another victory at the Woodlands View Friday Afternoon Open and again it was strawberry meat that did the trick. Pole fishing at seven metres he put together a 119-0-0 catch. Steve Pearce (Lifestyle) took 101-8-0 for second and third went to Mark Westwood's (Woodlands) 95-3-0.

Saturday's Woodlands View Open was held on High Pool with Matt Cox (Fieryholes) topping the list with a pole, corn and meat catch of 88-10-0 taken from peg 35. Second, Les Thompson (Shakespeare), took 51-10-0 and third was Gary Prestige's (Fieryholes) 40-4-0.

The Cornerstone AC Open was fished on the Grand Union Canal at Small Heath, in Birmingham, which saw Nigel Bull (Shakespeare) take a mainly roach catch of 10-0-2 by pole fishing hemp seed at peg 26. Runner-up Tony Robertson (Stirrup Cup) had 8-0-7 and third, Mal Brown (Middy Central), had 7-0-2.

At Moorlands Farm, Kye Faulkner (Telford) took the winners purse with an 80-2-0 catch taken with short pole fished corn and meat from Meadow Pool peg 49.

Lee Richards (Lifestyle) took 77-10-0 for second and third was Colin Pace (Bilston) with 72-10-0.

The three-hour evening Meadow Pool Open gave John Ronse (Telford) a ton up catch of 106-4-0 by pole fishing corn in the margins of peg ten. Second, Mick Henshall (Fosters MG), took 87-5-0 while third went to Faulkner's (Telford) 81-14-0.

The grand final of the Lodge Park Summer Series saw local Redditch match man Mark Hemmings (LPAA) crowned champion by waggler fishing luncheon meat at lucky peg 13 for a 73-8-0 carp haul. Second place went to Carl Bovington (LPAA) with 47-9-0 and third, Jack Eades (Bromsgrove), with 45-10-0.

Sunday saw the Studley AS third aggregate contest fished on the River Arrow at Wixford and it was Rubery's Martin Russell who pole fished for a top catch of 9-14-0 of chub from below the Pipe Bridge. Second was Graham Blowers' 6-0-0 and third, Graham Rowe's 5-10-0.

Birmingham Fire Brigade AC were head to head with Durmech AC in the first round of the BAA knockout cup and Birmingham Fire Brigade go through to the next round with a six-man weight of 26-8-0 to Durmech's 20-15-0.

Top individual honours went to Rubery's Ricky Walker (Birmingham Fire Brigade) who was staked four pegs below the Pumphouse in Meadow Five at Charlton on the River Avon. He pole fished worms for 6-8-0 of perch. Second was Steve Relph (Durmech) with 5-9-0 and third was Scott Smith's (Durmech) 4-13-0.

Astwood Fisheries Buddleia Pool Open was won by Rob Francis (Droitwich Angling Centre) with a pole, corn and worm catch of 31-3-0 from peg 62. His team mates followed with Pete Bailey taking 19-11-0 and Titch Hartle with 12-14-8.

The usual big catches were recorded at The Woodlands View Afternoon Deans Pool Open with Anthony Rogers (Preston Innovations) grabbing the glory with a huge 141-2-0 catch taken with pole fished strawberry meat from peg nine. Jason Smith (AOK) took 136-11-0 for second and third was Sean McCarthy (Pill Angling) with 123-2-0.

More good catches were taken at the Moorlands Farm Open where Tooze (Lifestyle) was the big winner with a 101-12-0 mixed catch by pole fishing corn at Island Pool peg 14. Second was Mal Talbot (Kamasan), taking 90-10-0, and Chris Cameron (Gloucester) was third with 81-1-0.

Cameron went on to win the three-hour evening Open by pole fishing corn in the margins of Meadow Pool peg 48 for 100-11-0. Second was Danny Bache's (Storey's) 98-4-0 and third, Henshall (Fosters MG), with 81-4-0.
