AN all girl band from Rubery, who are tipped for the top, are desperately seeking another member to complete their soulful sound.

Chica, featuring 18-year olds Catherine Gurney and Sheena Rowe, are searching for another female band member after vocalist Laura Barlow left for the sunnier shores of South America.

She has gone to Brazil for a gap year and has no intention of re-joining the band on her return. The remaining duo is looking for an all-singing, all-dancing girl aged between 17 and 20 years of age to join them.

Catherine, of Madley Close ,said they are a RnB group and likened their sound to Texan sensations Destiny's Child.

The band, formerly known on the circuit as Obsession, has been established for more than three years after the girls met at Waseley Hills High School.

Catherine was featured in last weeks' Advertiser/Messenger after collecting five A-grades at A' Level from the School Road school.

And despite securing her place at the London School of Economics to study law, she has decided to defer entry for a year to concentrate on her pop career.

Sheena's mum, Brenda Anderson, said: "The girls are determined to go as far as they can with this."

They originally chose the name Sheca, combining the names of Sheena and Catherine, however when a stylist informed them Chica was the Spanish word for girl they decided to adopt the name instead.

They have already recorded a track at a studio in London titled Take it to the Max and are currently collaborating with a music producer who has worked with Elton John.

If you think you have the right qualities to become the third member of Chica you can contact the band's manager Geoff on 07788181750.
