BROMSGROVE Town opened their campaign in division one of the Bromsgrove Football League with a 2-2 draw with New Olympic.

Olympic settled into their game more quickly with Andy Jay and Mark Smart posing a few problems for Town's defence.

And it was the visitors who drew first blood when Bromsgrove's defence was split and Marc Wright was beaten from the edge of the penalty box.

Town were second best but the goal seemed to inject new life into them and following a flowing passing move down the right, Carl Gray dispatched the equaliser home with some aplomb.

The second half was all Town with Gary Morgan hitting a number of telling 50 yard cross field balls, one of which was met superbly with by the head of Richard Pincher to put the hosts ahead.

Bromsgrove had all the play but were unable to increase their lead. Matt Wilkes, impressive on his debut, hit the crossbar and Peter Dutton struck over before Town conceded a very soft goal at the death.

Man of the match was Joe Newbold.
