A TOP fashion expert has won more than £7,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust on a TV gameshow.

John Scott, fashion guru on ITV's This Morning, has notched up £7,150 by outsmarting eight other contestants from the fashion world on The Weakest Link.

He chose to hand over his winnings to the charity after visiting the Selly Oak hospice last Christmas.

"I was really impressed and moved by a visit to Acorns for This Morning's Pass the Parcel Appeal and I am really pleased to have been able to make this donation to the charity," said Mr Scott.

"It was quite frightening being on the show and Anne made us feel like schoolchildren and we kept getting the giggles.

"I'm surprised and pleased to have ended up as the winner and hope the money really makes a difference to the children and families who visit the hospice."

The fashion expert, who appeared on the show on Saturday, August 17, has previously worked as a wardrobe supervisor on blockbuster films such as Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral and has worked with actors such as Pierce Brosnan, Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie.

Acorns publicity and media manager Jessica Foster said that Mr Scott had been supporting the charity since his visit last year.

The charity is currently trying to raise £4m to build and equip a new hospice on Worcester's Bath Road.

This month, the Evening News revealed that since the Three Counties Appeal was launched in April this year, £930,000 had flooded in.
