AN 18-year-old man had to be taken to hospital after a daylight robbery in a Worcester street.

The incident happened at around 1.15pm on Saturday as the teenager stood using his mobile phone near Star Newsagents on the city's Bath Road.

As the youth talked, two men got out to a black Astra Gsi and approached him.

The men, described as being in their early 20s and wearing dark clothing, then snatched the phone and started to kick the victim, who was later taken to Worcester's Royal Hospital with minor injuries.

Kim Stain, spokeswoman for Worcester police, appealed for anyone with any information about the incident to come forward.

She described the men as being Asian, with one being 6ft 2in tall with shoulder-length hair and goatee beard with the other being around 5ft 6in tall with dark hair and a moustache. Two other men were said to be waiting in the car.

"Anyone with knowledge about the incident or recognise the description of the men should contact police on 01905 723888 quoting c/617077," she said.
