ROWING: There was success for Bewdley Rowing Club and Stourport Boat Club members at the Commonwealth Rowing Championships in Nottingham.
Bewdley RC's Pete Jarvis was part of the silver-medal winning England lightweight coxless four who finished behind South Africa but ahead of Northern Ireland.
And Tim Dorrell, of Stourport BC, returned with two bronzes for Wales in the lightweight coxless pairs and the men's quadruple sculls.
The prolific Dorrell, 37, had won gold at the National Rowing Championships a few weeks earlier in the lightweight coxless pairs.
Coventry University student Jarvis, 22, started off as a junior at Bewdley RC while a pupil at the town's high school before going on to impress regionally and nationally.
One of the lightest rowers in the England U-23s squad at U-67kgs, Jarvis has set his sights on qualifying for the Olympics.
Bewdley RC veteran four Jo Atkinson, Teresa Roberts, Maggie Jameson and Liz Killick won the club sprint women's coxless fours, beating favourites Bedford by a good margin.
