A BROMSGROVE company is growing so quickly it is filling its new premises as fast as it can build.

Fuel Parts UK Ltd has been expanding rapidly in the past five years and is now one of the top three distributors in Britain of emission control products, such as catalytic converters and engine management components. The business was originally set up in Redditch by managing director Paul Tomlinson, in 1985.

Government legislation on emissions, introduced in 1992, has driven the growth of the Buntsford Hill, Bromsgrove.

In the past three years the company has grown at a rate of 35-40 per cent each year and expanded into four units, three of which have been bought.

"When we purchased two units some time ago, we immediately let one on a three-year lease, believing that we would eventually need it for our own purposes," said Mr Tomlinson. "But our expansion rate caught us out and we found we needed it after only two years!"

With 37 staff in Bromsgrove, the company is now heading towards an £8m annual turnover and is targeting £10m next year.

Bromsgrove developer David Lamb is set to build a further 7,500sq ft unit that the company is buying and staff numbers are projected to rise by a further two in this month, with two more warehouse workers coming on board in September.

The company is also extending one unit to provide a further 2,000sq ft of offices.
