LYE Meadow rivals Alvechurch and Kings Heath are set to lock horns in a meaty derby on bank holiday Monday.

There is always a fierce rivalry between the tenants and landlords and both started their season winless at the weekend.

Kings Heath went down 3-2 to Highgate while Alvechurch had the disappointment of shipping a 95th minute equaliser to draw 3-3 with Coventry Sphinx.

Jimmy McDonald hit two on his Church debut and Keith Rostill bagged the other with Combination golden boot Brian Powell playing for Redditch CC.

Alvechurch boss Andy Hibbert has swelled his ranks with the addition of Stratford Town midfielder Brett Clarke and Boldmere left back John Price.

Church were set to visit West Midlands Police last night and Coleshill Town on Saturday (ko 2.45pm) before Monday's derby clash (ko 2.45pm).

Kings Heath manager Sean Lawless added four new faces to his squad before Saturday's kick off, including the first graduate from the club's new junior ranks.

Sixteen-year-old left back Dave Barnes has been promoted to the first team squad along with Sheldon Heath midfielder Neil Johnson, Rubery Juniors striker Colin Tandy and Sporting Harborne forward Rob Smith.

The Kingsmen entertain Coventry Sphinx at home tonight (ko 7.45pm) and Alveston on Saturday (ko 2.45pm).
