SUMMER holiday blues were banished thanks to staff at a popular local attraction who organised a whole host of activities.

Face painting, story telling and a garden trail were just some of the events children took part in at a fun day at Hanbury Hall on Monday.

Many other attractions were open to the public to keep mums and dads entertained while their youngsters enjoyed themselves.

The exhibition in the Long Gallery was open, along with the stunning staircase murals in the hall and the tranquil reconstructed 18th century gardens.

The hall's property manager, Stewart Alcock, said: "The day was a resounding success. We had in excess of 600 people come, many of who were children, who seem to have a fantastic time.

"There were lots of lions and butterflies running around with the face painting and the trail was also a big hit. We will definitely be doing it again next year."
