WORK is now well underway on a £10m development at Bromsgrove's latest business park - Buntsford Gate, which is expected to create 500 new jobs.

Backed by the Royal Bank of Scotland, developer's Chase Midland has started work on the construction of Avon House, the first of two, four-and three storey office buildings with a combined size of 60,000 square feet.

The speculative development is the first to be located on the 2.4 acre site behind the Safeway store and fronting the so-called 'A38 technology corridor.'

The prestigious park is a £25m development by Glasgow-based Bett Properties, the commercial arm of Bett Brothers plc.

The firm's properties manager, Ian Townsend, said: "This is an exciting development for Bromsgrove which is providing a welcome injection for the local economy.

"We are delighted a company of such high calibre as Chase Midland is developing on the business park and we fully expect high levels of demand for space."

Bromsgrove District Council's economic developments officer, Peter Michael, said: "This is a state-of-the art landmark building which will create around 500 new jobs.

"It is right on the A38 technology corridor which will see major hi-tech investment in the next few years.

"With this site plus the regeneration of the former Garringtons land, Bromsgrove is a key player in modernising the Midland's economy."
