BROMSGROVE police are appealing for information after two women had their handbags stolen as they were walking home.

The pair had been out for the evening and were walking on Callow Bridge over the A38 in Rubery, at about 10.30pm on Wednesday, August 7, when they were approached from behind by two men.

The thugs each grabbed one of the women's handbags. The handles snapped on one of the bags, however, the second woman was dragged along the floor for a short distance as she clung on to her's.

The bag finally came free and the two men ran off and it is believed that they got into a dark coloured car.

The thieves escaped with less than £5 and personal items.

DC Kate Terris, who is investigating the incident, said: "The A38 is a busy road and there may have been people around who witnessed this incident.

"I would ask that they contact me on 01527 584888 at Bromsgrove station. The woman who fell to the floor was not badly injured but has suffered some bruising. Obviously this was a great shock to these women who had simply gone out for the night to enjoy themselves.

"We are yet to get full descriptions of the offenders and are currently viewing CCTV tapes that cover the area.

"Anyone who has information, but who does not wish to give their name to the police, should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

"Calls are free, not recorded and a reward may be offered for information leading to the arrest and charge of suspects," she added.
