HUNDREDS of energetic youngsters from a Rubery high school showed staff and spectators what they were made of in their annual sports day.

Events at Waseley Hills High School, in School Road, included the 100m and 200m sprints, relay, three legged race and tug of war.

Staff helped with the organisation of the races to commemorate head of physical education, Steve Adams' 20th and final year of organising the school's annual sports day.

A school spokesman said: "It was a very pleasant afternoon with a good sportsman-like attitude.

"The most touching moment was when one of our physically handicapped students competed in the 100m sprint.

"When he crossed the finishing line everyone erupted into a spontaneous applause. It was a fantastic moment."
