Students at St Augustine's School are once again celebrating a bumper crop of exam results.

This year's pupils, the first to take the new A2 examinations, gained an average point score of 20.67.

The overall pass rate was more than 93 per cent and they achieved 33 per cent grades A-C compared to last year's figure of 31 per cent. Top students were Lawrence Harrison and David Sifford, with two As, two Bs and one C, and Catherine Thomas and Emily Piggott, with one A and four Bs.

Headteacher Carol Buchanan said: "I'm delighted with the results which reflect the hard work of students and teachers."

Trinity High School saw a 100 per cent success rate in a total of 14 subjects and every student achieved passes in at least two subjects.

Notable individual performances came from Ian Tibot and John Mindham, who achieved four As.

Marco Nappolini and Abigail Evans also achieved high grades.

Headteacher Marion Barton said: "This is a brilliant start for the new sixth form centre and results are expected year on year as the sixth form grows and becomes established.

"I'm proud of our achievements and congratulate students and teachers."

Woodrush celebrated when it received an overall pass rate of 95 per cent and an average point score of 15.

Praise was given to student Charlotte Powell who managed to score three As and a B. Deputy head Jonathon Baker said: "We're all very pleased with our students' results. The exams went well. There have been no major disappointments and the majority of our students are happy."
