Staff commitment and students' hard work paid dividends, leaving Arrow Vale Community Sports College to celebrate A-level successes.

The pupils achieved an overall pass rate of 91 per cent, with 51 per cent at grade A-C level.

The school gained an average point score of 17.1, a vast improvement on last year's 14.3 average. Two pupils proving top of the class were Adam Tilt and Hector Basevi.

Adam not only bagged himself four As and a B, but the school was then contacted by AQU Examinations Board with the news that Adam was in the top five out of 12,000 pupils across the country for his general studies result.

Hector Basevi achieved an excellent four As and a B.

Headteacher Chris Leach said: "We are so pleased with the results.

"It demonstrates quite clearly the hard work of both students and teachers.

"There were a lot of happy faces at the school this morning and we're absolutely delighted for all of them."
