JASON Wilshaw extended his Classics Club Post Classics Series lead to 84 points on a damp weekend at Croft.
Under leaden skies, Wilshaw qualified 12th for the weekend's double points race and was happy after climbing the field to take the flag third behind Mark Pinkney and Dave Brown.
Wilshaw's nearest championship rival, Paul Allender, came home seventh so the reigning champion was able to increase his series lead by 12 points.
In the non-championship Race Of The Year event, Wilshaw suffered his first DNF of the season but did not lose any vital points.
After a best ever second place in last year's race, Wilshaw had high hopes of winning it in his final full season but after a duel with Pinkney, Brown and Dean Mitchell, Wilshaw suffered clutch failure on the sixth lap of the 18 lap race and was forced to withdraw.
Rounds 11 and 12 of the series are held at Lydden on August 31.
"Lydden is Pinkney's track because he lives nearby," said Wilshaw.
