DEAR EDITOR - Your new headlines should read 'Fiery Hell (Hill) death sentence of a community/or opening of a new chapter.'

The proposed development at Fiery Hill Road, Barnt Green, could help solve a lot of problems for the local communities of Cofton Hackett, Barnt Green and Lickey and Blackwell.

As readers may be aware, Worcestershire County Council has asked Cofton Hackett to find a suitable site for a new library as the old one has passed its sell by date and would be too costly to refurbish

Part of the Fiery Hill site - next to the Barnt Green Inn - would be perfect. Bus stops are handy for seniors, no walking involved.

Secondly, if they were to build a new clinic for doctors and dentists next to the library, again very handy, one stop - two calls.

Thirdly, close Fiery Hill off at Kendal End Road and divert it across the field behind the Barnt Green Inn to Cherry Hill Road.

This would remove a very dangerous intersection.

This end of Fiery Hill next to the clinic and library could become a public parking area for commuters on the trains and ramblers that visit the area to go hiking.

With some co operation from the railway a subway could be put through the embankment to connect the footpath from Hewell Road to the footpath at Kendal End Road, making it safe for pedestrians walking to and from the clinic and library area.

The balance of the area could be used for development or possibly a new school.

The situation in Barnt Green, with its parking problems, would be greatly improved and shoppers could move about more freely.

In my opinion there is the opportunity to enhance the community in more ways than one, instead of letting the developers have it all their own way.
