DEAR EDITOR - I haved just attended my first meeting of the Droitwich Spa Town Council, as I was interested in what was to be decided about the proposed development of the Waitrose Supermarket, and what a revealing experience that was.

Before I attended the meeting I was under the impression, quite naively, that we elected these councillors to serve the community for the community.

It would appear that some completely forget this and consider it is their God given right to totally ignore the majority opinion and to pursue their own agenda, and to hell with everyone else.

Ten questions were allowed to be asked and each questioner was allowed two minutes only - there were no answers.

When the item came up for discussion (last) the chairman went round the table and almost everyone seemed to disapprove of the plans with the exception of Councillor Pam Davey, who spent her time ridiculing a paper presented by Action for Droitwich.

When it came to the chairman to wind up the discussion I was absolutely astounded that after all the adverse comments, he proposed that the proposal should go forward with a few comments relating to the design of the structure.

The whole meeting was a sham. I believe the outcome was cut and dried before the meeting ever took place, and all comments, discussions etc were completely ignored and discounted.

I am a pensioner resident of Droitwich and I am affiliated to no one and belong to no group/organisation whatsoever.

To those living in Droitwich Spa I would say please remember when it comes round to local elections, who was responsible for the demise of the town as we know it today - and cast your vote accordingly

O M Naish,

Droitwich Spa.
