LOVE 'em or loathe 'em, the mullet-sporting maestros of "melodic rock" are back with their 10th official album following 1999 release Euphoria.

Deaf Leopard, as the Sheffield band were originally titled, spawned rock anthems like Animal and Pour Some Sugar On Me in their 1980s heyday.

The good news for fans is they don't seem to have moved on much since then.

X is an energetic mix of fast rock, mid-tempo tracks and ballads

The most old-school tracks in the rock vein Def Leppard are renowned for include Four Letter Word, Cry and Scar.

Girl Like You moves with the times a bit more and is the best of a mediocre bunch, alongside the acoustic version of Long Long Way To Go, a bonus track.

Unbelievable is OK and You're So Beautiful is a bit better but Torn To Shreds is more like noise than rock.

They may have ditched the mullets but the music is still stuck in a timewarp.
