GREAT Alne celebrated being crowned Cotswold League Division Five champions by beating Mickleton at the weekend.
Captain Craig Millard urged his players to win in style for departed overseas star Daniel Criag who went home after the tragic death of his mother.
The champions responded by cracking 296 off 45 overs, just eight short of the club record score which was set against Harvington earlier in the season before bowling out their opponents for 131.
"I wanted us to win the game for Dan and the lads responded magnificently," said Millard.
"That win was for Daniel."
The villagers had been assured promotion after the match against Eckington the previous weekend was rained off.
And now Millard wants his side to win their remaining two matches and finish with a perfect record.
Great Alne entertain Harvington on Saturday (1.30pm start) without the services of Dave Coll and Steve Birch who are unavailable.
Dan Woodward is holidaying for the final two matches and Sam Hale is out for the remainder of the season with a calf injury.
