INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed Welsh male choir, the Morriston Orpheus, will be singing out in support of Acorns Children's Hospice when they make a special appearance at Worcester Cathedral this September.

The choir has sung for royalty and played to audiences worldwide, including the Sydney Opera House in Australia. It will be in concert at Worcester Cathedral on Saturday, September 28, to raise funds for the Acorns Three Counties Appeal to build a new hospice for life-limited children in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire, which would of course serve both Bromsgrove and Droitwich, and their surrounding villages.

The Morriston Orpheus was described as the 'Cadillac of Choirs' when they recently performed in North America and has received rapturous reviews from around the globe.

Audiences have included the Queen, the Pope and numerous heads of state.

The choir has won numerous awards at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and played at many international music festivals both at home and abroad. The choir is directed by Alwyn Humphreys who has conducted the Morriston Orpheus on 26 recorded albums and in more than 500 concerts.

The choir will be supported by guest soprano, Susan Black, who has shared the stage with some of the country's best orchestras, choirs and bands including The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, The English Symphony Orchestra and The Band of the Grenadier Guards. Susan, from Malvern, has a wide repertoire and recent roles have included the Countess in the Marriage of Figaro, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus and the title roles in Tosca and the Merry Widow. When she's not performing, Susan teaches singing at Malvern College.

The concert will start at 7.30pm.
