A MAN who plunged into a Worcestershire canal has died.
The man, believed to be aged 60, fell from Lock 21 into the Birmingham-Worcester Canal at Stoke Prior, near Bromsgrove, yesterday.
Worcester police were alerted to the incident at 2.30pm.
"He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch in a critical condition, but he died at 11.30pm last night," said Kim Stain, Worcester police spokesman.
A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said it had been informed of the tragedy, but a decision had not been made about an investigation.
British Waterways was also informed of the incident and declined to comment until a police investigation was completed.
A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Ambulance Service confirmed that a man had been taken to the Redditch hospital.
