EVESHAM United threw away a two-goal lead and had to settle for a 2-2 draw following last night's visit to Solihull Borough in the Dr Martens League Western Division.

United stormed into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 25 minutes, thanks to strikes by former Worcester City midfielder Steve Lutz and Grant Pinkney and looked to be heading for their second league win in three days.

But after a pulsating first-half display, Evesham looked a pale shadow of the side that had dominated the first 45 minutes and were pegged back for long periods in the second-half by a rejuvenated Solihull.

United began in confident fashion and took the lead on 20 minutes. Goalkeeper Gary Hateley failed to gather Shaun Pratt's cross and Lutz headed in.

Five minutes later United went further ahead. A ball over the Solihull defence was latched onto by Pinkney, who drew the keeper before sliding the ball home.

Solihull came storming out for the second-half and reduced the deficit within six minutes.

Andy Corbett drilled the ball home past former Kidderminster Harriers' goalkeeper Darren Steadman.

Pinkney again went close with a chip but with only ten minutes to go Solihull drew level.

Steadman failed to hold onto Matt Smith's header from Dave Haywood's corner and Corbett scored his second tapping in from close range.
