JUNIOR supporters of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust have scooped a series of prestigious national awards.

The Wyre Forest Watch Group has now won five Watch gold awards, celebrating outstanding achievements for wildlife and the environment.

Only 20 awards have been made throughout the whole country. The scheme is part of Wildlife Watch, the nation-wide junior club for young environmentalists run by Wildlife Trusts.

Three more members of the group have now completed a demanding programme of eight separate elements, including research and activities, to achieve this accolade.

Frankie Stone, aged 12 , Jo Stone, 14 and Sonya Hardy, also 14, will have their work recognised tomorrow when celebrity Bill Oddie will present them with certificates and gold award badges at the Rutland Bird Show.

"We're immensely proud of what is achieved by all the children in our Wildlife Watch group," said organiser Chris Doncaster. "The success gained has even helped the group with funds to set up a nestbox video link at our meeting place at the Wyre Forest Visitor Centre."
