SCHOOL reunions with a twist are about to take off at a Worcester nightclub.

Bushwackers is running the special nights every Wednesday for former pupils of Worcestershire schools who are aged between 18 and 30.

They will include an authentic school disco evening, complete with hits from the 80s and early 90s.

Bushwackers resident DJ Fran Sheridan came up with the idea after struggling to contact his own former schoolmates.

"I'd tried contacting my old school," he said. "but they couldn't give out personal details. And I tried the Friends Reunited website, but hardly anyone had signed up.

"I thought a dance night combined with a school reunion might just be the fun night people are looking for to meet up with former school friends."

With the help of club flyers and posters in schools to pass on the message to older relatives, Bushwackers hopes the reunions will prove popular.

The club - on The Cross - is targeting specific schools at specific nights.

From 8pm this Wednesday, it will be the turn of students who left at Blessed Edward Oldcorne and Christopher Whitehead High School in Worcester, Malvern's Dyson Perrins, Malvern, North Bromsgrove High, Evesham High, Redditch's Arrowvale High, and Woverley High, Kidderminster, in 1988.

"The first couple of hours of each night will be fairly quiet to give people a chance to get reacquainted," said Fran.

The nights will feature a range of music and have at least an hour dedicated to top music from the year the person left school.
