A SINGLE mum kneed a landlady in the head after downing the equivalent of 12 pints of lager.

Worcester magistrates heard Zoe Hayes was allowed into the Millers Arms pub in Bridge Street, Pershore, despite previously being barred.

The 18-year old admitted assaulting landlady Sheilla Mather after she tried to stop her drinking.

Kiernan Cunningham, prosecuting, told the court Hayes had gone into the pub with a friend on Sunday, June 2.

Her friend left an hour later, but Hayes remained, became more drunk and refused to leave.

"She was told it was time to leave the premises and another of the customers removed her drink and placed it on the bar," said Mr Cunningham.

When Hayes tried to grab her drink back, the landlady grabbed hold of her and tried to throw her out.

A scuffle broke out, and the landlady was left with red marks on her face, bruised arms and a bump on the back of her head.

"There were punches, Hayes kneed the publican in the face and both ended up on the floor," said Mr Cunningham.

"Bar staff and customers had to drag her off."

Police carted Hayes, of Rail Ground in Pershore, off the premises and arrested her the next day.

In interview, she admitted she had drunk the equivalent of 12 pints of lager.

Barry Newton, defending, said the mum-of-one was extremely sorry, and had no intention of offending again.

Hayes was put on a community rehabilitation order for 18 months and ordered to pay £150 compensation to Mrs Mather. She was barred from the pub for two years.
