A KIDDERMINSTER teenager killed in a car accident has been described as a "fine young man" by his teachers.

Duncan Pimm died after being involved in the crash with a Peugeot 205 at 11.15pm on Tuesday.

He was rushed to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, but pronounced dead on arrival.

Teachers at King Charles I School, where Duncan had recently finished his GCSEs, paid tribute to the 16-year-old.

Headteacher Alan Brooks said he was a keen sportsman who was a real "gentleman".

He said Duncan had been undecided about his future at the school's sixth form, although he had applied for a Young Apprenticeship.

"Duncan was extremely popular among his peers and staff, was always courteous, polite and co-operative and his maturity marked him out as a real gentleman," he said.

"His contribution to school life was considerable - he was a hard working student who excelled at sport.

"Duncan played rugby at a high level and represented the school at football, basketball, cricket and athletics. He was a prized member of the year and tutor group, where he could always be relied on to help in whatever way.

"Above all, Duncan was a friend to everybody he encountered and we are all deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic loss of a young life which had so much potential."

Duncan was involved in the crash on Bishops Wood Lane, Crossway Green, near Ombersley Golf Club.

The driver of the Peugeot, also from Kidderminster, was arrested at the scene but later released on police bail.

Police are still appealing for witnesses, and anyone with information should contact Kidderminster Police Station on 01562 820888.

An inquest into Duncan's death is due to be opened on Monday.
