A WIN may be hard to come by at the moment but Chaddesley Corbett skipper Matt Boden has been happy with the improvement shown at the Longmore club this season.

Chaddesley played out their fifth draw of the campaign in Worcestershire Saturday League Division One at home to Droitwich Spa.

But the eight points bagged keeps them fourth in the table, four points ahead of county rivals Droitwich.

And Boden admitted: "I'm very pleased really. If we can finish fourth that would be excellent, considering we were nearly relegated last year. That's a good improvement.

"We have batted well as a unit and if we could find an opening bowler from somewhere we would have that little extra to challenge for the title."

Chaddesley, without the free-scoring Kevin Truswell and fellow batsman Andy Baylis, were left chasing Droitwich's 272-7 on a good batting wicket.

Paul Connelly and Tom Boden both took a pair of wickets, leaving M Boden feeling the score was within reach.

But the villagers under-achieved with the bat as Grenville Wilson and Mark Edward top scored, hitting 36 runs each.

M Boden added: "We have had a lot of draws recently. We're still picking up points but it would be nice to get a win. We've got Hagley on Saturday who have been struggling."

Droitwich 272-7, Chaddesley 189-8.

Chaddesley seconds lost ground at the top of the table after Saturday's defeat at Droitwich and are now fifth.

They were dismissed for 129 and the home side lost just four wickets in reply.

Chaddesley 2nds 129, Droitwich 130-4.

The thirds were awarded 20 points and the win after opponents Malvern failed to raise a side in the Single League.
