ONE of the region's Euro MPs will be in the Faithful City tomorrow for an important fact-finding discussion with recruitment agency Manpower.

Phillip Bushill-Matthews will meet bosses from recruitment agency Manpower at its St. Nicholas Street headquarters.

"I want to discuss with Manpower their view of the proposed new European directive, the Typical Worker's Directive, he said.

"If this directive is passed into law, it would mean that agency workers would no longer have their terms, conditions and pay set by agreement between the employer and the employee, and this vital flexibility would be lost.

"The real losers would be the very workers the directive claims to be trying to protect," he said.

Phillip Bushill-Matthews said he is appalled that the EU should interfere in this way, and added that the directive could do immense damage to the industry.
