DROITWICH Spa CC First XI moved up to fifth place in Worcestershire County League division one with a winning draw at Chaddesley Corbett last Saturday.

A fine all round performance from Spa, which saw Dave Scott-Walker hit 102 as his side posted 272-7, maintained their good run of form.

Ian Duggan's side have now gone three games without loss and are now in good shape for Saturday's visit of second place Pedmore.

Batting first, Droitwich were aggressive from the first ball and soon took charge with the early loss of Brent Hawkins (11) allowing inform Stuart Bryan and captain Duggan to take the game to their hosts with an impressive quick second wicket partnership of 105.

Sadly, that was marred as Bryan and Duggan were dismissed in successive balls by Connelly for 57 and 49 respectively.

Dave Scott-Walker came to the crease and hit an array of back foot strokes and aerial blows to take the past 200.

Despite a couple of wickets falling, Scott-Walker and Mike Rogers continued the good work as Spa finished on 272-7.

In reply, Spa's openers bowled well with both Mike Rogers and Anthony Small taking a wicket each.

But Chaddesley's G Wilson and M Edwards scored freely to keep the game in the balance before Karl Goddard removed them both to end the hosts' chances.

As wickets continued to fall, Chaddesley were reduced to 115-5, forcing them to turn defensive with their target a long way off.

But Glen Harrison and Rogers managed to claim further scalps as Chaddesley held on for a draw at 189-8.

Droitwich get 15 points to Chaddesley's eight.

l Droitwich Spa Seconds looked in good form as they dismissed Chaddesley Corbett Seconds for 129 en route to a sic-wicket victory.

Spa's B Gunston top scored with 69 not out to leave his side second in the table just a point behind leaders Hagley.
