BROMSGROVE Rovers hope to name former Victoria Ground favourite Stewart Brighton as their latest signing today (Wednesday) in the run up to the new season.

Brighton, who scored Rovers' first goal in the Conference back in 1992, is currently at Moor Green but Rovers are confident he will be a Green for the Dr Martens campaign.

Joint manager Gary Hackett said: "We have spoken to Stewart and he says if there's anywhere he wants to play - it's Bromsgrove - and we will be happy to have him."

Brighton, a left-back, will be another welcome asset to Hackett and Jon Ford and will add yet more experience to a Rovers squad which already includes Conference stalwarts Steve Taylor and Mark Crisp.

The former England semi-professional player becomes Rovers' fourth recruit of the summer and could well be the final piece in the jigsaw for the management team.

Hackett said: "The squad is virtually full now. We might look at one more player but there won't be any major changes."

And now, with the pre-season friendlies imminent and the fixtures released, Hackett is concentrating on preparing his players.

"We must make sure we are ready for the start and that's all that matters," he added.
