AN angry Stoke Prior resident has lashed out at inconsiderate lorry drivers after her horse was injured while she was riding in a village lane.

Elizabeth Biggs, of Cloverdale, was riding in Shaw Lane when, she claims, an articulated lorry shunted into the back of her horse, Skip, causing the mare to suffer severe muscle damage.

The Ryefield Road resident said: "We were riding along when my horse suddenly seemed to veer to the right.

"The lorry approaching from behind didn't slow down or give us a wide berth and knocked the back of my horse.

"The driver didn't stop, I'm not sure if he even knew what he had done but unfortunately I didn't take the lorry's registration number or details."

The angry village resident voiced her concerns about the incident, which happened last month, at a meeting of Stoke Prior Parish Council. The meeting was held at the first school in Ryefields Road on Monday night.

"I was meant to be selling this horse but the incident has put the other woman off buying her.

"Maybe speed humps or weight restrictions would help but if the drivers must use these lanes they should have a bit of courtesy on the roads," she added.

Parish council chairman Thelma Roll advised her to write to the police.

Worcestershire Highways Partnership in Bromsgrove manager Jon Fraser said: " We are aware of the situation and we will be looking into it."
