BADSEY Under-12s secured the Cotswold Hills League title on Sunday when they defeated North Cotswolds Young Cricketers in their two-legged play-off game.

Badsey lost by 11 runs on the day but sealed victory over the two legs by 16 runs.

After electing to bat, North Cotswolds steadily accumulated a competitive total with Luke Fisher and Ben Hughes in fine form.

Jamie Anderson's two wickets in two balls, though, gave Badsey the advantage and helped restrict North Cotswolds to 258-5.

Badsey began poorly losing the early wicket of Michael Powell but his successful opening partnership with Jamie Anderson continued as they put on 14 for the opening pair.

Badsey were to lose one further wicket, that of Steve Powell, but sensible batting by all the players, especially last pair Christian Pearce and Adam Westmacott, saw Badsey to a deserved victory on 247-2.

Their next challenge is to take on the pick of the league side on finals day at Evesham on Sunday, July 28.

Badsey are currently recruiting players at Under- 11, 12, 13 and 14 level and any youngster wishing to join this successful club is asked to ring youth team manager Simon Price on 07779 590040.
