A DRINK-driver spotted weaving along a Callow End road was too drunk to stand up when police collared him in his car.

Police found Paul Blower slumped over the wheel of his grey Vauxhall Astra following a tip-off about a man driving haphazardly.

Worcester magistrates heard the 32-year-old had 107mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, nearly three times the legal limit of 35mcg.

Stephen Harris, prosecuting, said just before midnight on Sunday, May 5, officers were looking out for a vehicle driving erratically in the Callow End area.

"He was straddling the central reservation, then he made a turn into Lower Ferry Lane without indication," said Mr Harris.

"Police indicated for him to stop.

"The driver was slumped forward smelling of intoxicants and couldn't stand.

"He was then arrested as it was observed the driver was unfit at that stage."

Richard Hull, defending, told magistrates that Blower's driving had not resulted in injury or damage.

"He's reflected upon this incident and he's deeply remorseful," said Mr Hull.

"He's taken steps to sell his motor vehicle."

Blower, from Alton Park, Callow End, admitted drink-driving.

Magistrates ordered him to carry out 180 hours of community punishment, banned him from driving for three years and told him to pay £55 court costs.
