REMARKABLY few complaints about noise were made over the Jubilee weekend, according to Malvern Hills District Council's environmental health department.

Just four separate incidents were dealt with by officers, who had expected the celebrations to generate more calls.

"It was generally not too bad," said the department's Andy Ferguson. "We had a couple of people carrying on beyond 2am."

Police were called to Baxter's Walk, in Malvern Link, after environmental health officers were contacted by residents angry at noise levels. But by the time they attended at around 2am on Sunday, the music had been turned down.

Complaints were also made about noise levels at the King's Head pub in Upton.

Landlord Graeme Bunn said environmental health officers had contacted him to tell him people had objected to live music being staged at the Waterside pub on Tuesday.

Officers told him that if any more complaints were received they would have to make a visit to monitor the decibel levels, but no further action was taken.

"I wish they had come because then they would have found there was nothing wrong with it," he said.
