FOUR byes in the final over earned Kidderminster 20 points in a must-win Birmingham League Division One clash at home to Bedworth.

KCC completed the weekend success with four balls left but found leaders Wellington too tough on Monday in a losing draw.

On Saturday, the town side managed to keep in touch with the higher teams in the division after winning the toss for the fourth time in five matches.

Bedworth struggled on a good wicket and lost three wickets for 69 runs by the 25th over.

But the visitors hit a golden patch, adding 106 for the fourth wicket with Friswell scoring 52 and Dutta crashing 73 runs.

KCC dropped three catches as Bedworth piled on 92 runs in the final 15 overs to set a target of 207.

Ted Baylis had sparse reward for good bowling with one wicket taken in a good 14-over spell that included five maidens and conceded just 35 runs.

Marc Derrick was the main wicket taker with 3-54.

KCC made a solid start with 86 runs coming off the first 20 overs.

Openers Mark Mansell and Steve Davies looked comfortable but the former was out with the score on 64.

Davies went on to make 57 and though they did not maintain their opening pace, they still looked to be in control.

Mandeep Singh and Richard Bradford scored few runs but Gurdeep Kandola kept them on course.

Kandola was fifth out for 43 but it was now 178-5 and 29 runs were required from six overs.

Skipper Sean Lloyd was out for 12 but he hit one superb six that kept the tension going.

Matt Fludgate and Richard Wilkinson went for quick singles as the four byes rounded off a late success.

Bedworth 206-6, KCC 207-6.

The weather reduced Monday's game with Wellington to 30 overs and the visitors batted well for their 189-4.

KCC could not get within the winning distance, falling 77 runs short with two wickets left.

Wilkinson scored 32 after taking 2-79 in 11 overs with the ball, while Mansell contributed 25 runs.

Wellington 189-4, KCC 112-8.

Mid-table KCC seconds beat Barnards Green by four wickets in the Worcestershire Sunday League to collect six points.

The Malvern side set 203-4 but KCC hit back with Tom Sheriff top scoring on 54 not out.

Barnards Green 203-4,

KCC 2nds 204-6.

The thirds held on to a losing draw at Cookhill in Worcestershire League Division Six.

KCC got nowhere near the 166-7 posted by the home side but the five points gained keeps them ahead of Stourbridge Social and Hallow at the bottom of the table.

Cookhill 166-7, KCC 3rds 77-6.
