I FEEL I have to reply to Ian Hughes' somewhat defensive comments, published in the Journal.
Mr Hughes denies one 'shortfall' but knows full well that Evesham and Pershore Housing Association are currently 'under supervision' by the Housing Corporation and that it is they and not Wychavon District Council who are the principal funders of his organisation.
EPHA are also the subject of an on-going police investigation. This investigation has so far lasted 14 months, as long as the management (including Mr Hughes) and the board have been under supervision.
This 'supervision' involves compliance with an action plan, drawn up with the Housing Corporation. Surely Evesham's 10,000 EPHA residents are entitled to see this - but its never been published.
Finally, any connection between this situation and the Market Towns Initiative is simply that they both involve the somewhat secretive use of public money. Thanks for your concern, Mr Hughes, my eyes are fine.
PAUL RENCHER, Nightingale Court, Evesham.
