A HEAVY metal band from Stourport is plotting to take over the Midlands.

And Komanchi Tribe are fighting on more than one front in their quest to become the cream of the crop.

The five-piece band were successful in the quarter finals of a battle of the bands competition at Worcester's Marr's Barr last week and will be switching their attention to a similar contest in Wolverhampton this weekend.

The group's line up consists of rhythm guitarist Pete Moulam, vocalist Dale David, bass guitarist Dave Stephens, drummer Ran Edwards and Al Watt on lead guitar.

They cite Pantera, Soulfly, Slayer and Machinehead among their influences.

Last week they met the demanding challenge of playing two venues in one night, moving on to Stourbridge's Rock Cafe 2000 after their successful battle of the bands outing in Worcester.

This weekend's schedule will not be quite so tight as they follow up a performance at The Varsity on Saturday with a battle of the bands date around the corner at The Wulfrun 24 hours later.

The band will be up against seven others and plan to "stun the audience with crushing rhythms" - and a possible appearance by Raus, a 6ft 2ins baby.

They are running a coach from Worcester and Stourport to Wolverhampton.
