LOYAL Stourport Swifts fan Beryl Fisher has been honoured with a clubperson of the year award for her work behind the scenes.

The Dr Martens League club are always looking for volunteers to help out at Walshes Meadow and the club has thanked everyone who supported their spring draw.

A Swifts spokesman said: "Beryl is a wonderful backroom helper, organiser and supporter of the club, always cheerful and freely giving of her time and expertise.

"Clubs like Swifts rely on a loyal bunch of helpers and our sincere thanks go to Beryl and all the support team for their help in a most enjoyable season for the club."

On the playing side, it is hoped defender Steve Ulfig and utility player Willie Dunn will be fit for pre-season after knee injuries along with veteran Mark Dearlove.

Dunn, whose first season at the club was decimated by injury, has had an operation to combat the problem.

Swifts boss Tim Langford is still targeting players for next season.
