ONE of two official beacons marking the jubilee in Wyre Forest flared into life on Monday on farmland overlooking Bewdley.

Around 150 people attended the private party at land off Crundalls Lane, Wribbenhall, which raised £750 for the county's Air Ambulance service and the Queen's jubilee charity, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute.

Farmer Chris Grainger who organised the event, said the beacon, which was lit at 10pm, was one of two organised on behalf of the Kidderminster National Farmers Union in Wyre Forest.

Family and friends also enjoyed a pig roast, dancing, face painting, a bouncy castle, fireworks and a barn dance.

The second beacon in the area was lit in Great Witley.
