THE British Horse Society would like to hear from anyone with a spare stable or corner of a field or paddock.

The society is currently compiling the ninth edition of the very popular "Bed and Breakfast for Horses," due for publication in September, and is looking for people who can offer accommodation for horses and ponies.

"Bed and Breakfast for Horses" is an invaluable reference guide for riders doing long distance routes or taking their horse on holiday, as well as for competitors and anyone else away from home with a horse.

Accommodation for accompanying humans is also sought but is not necessary if there is a pub or guest house nearby.

For the first time this year the BHS would like to include horse-friendly pubs - those that provide hitching rails and have a clean supply of fresh water - for riders who want to stop for lunch.

The cost of an entry is £35 and for an additional £20 the entry will be placed on the BHS Ride UK website (www.ride-uk.org.uk) which is dedicated to riding routes all over the country.

The closing date for entries is the end of July and anyone interested should contact the Access Dept at the British Horse Society, Stoneleigh Deer Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire CV8 2XZ, Tel: 08701 202244.
