GRIMLEY Raceway's 40th anniversary showpiece event went off with a bang as more than 1,000 fans flocked to the track.
The two-day races proved to be a huge success with some top racing and high drama on offer for stock car enthusiasts on Monday and Tuesday.
Darren Lewis, from the Birmingham-based Men In Black team, stole the show finishing as top points scorer over the two days with 108 points.
The two days, however, were a celebration of Grimley's evolution over 40 colourful years.
"We saw some of the best banger racing we had for many a year," said promoter Alan Lewis.
"For a 40th anniversary occasion it was very successful and coupled with the Jubilee celebrations, everyone was up for a good time.
"The rain kept a few away on the Monday but we had over a 1,000 people here on the Tuesday."
Lewis is a veteran of the course and was a fan before he became involved as promoter.
"I can remember spectating here as a young lad approaching 30 years ago," he added.
"There was a huge mound of soil in the middle with an electric pole standing on the top which the cars used to race around. Nowadays, there has been a tremendous transformation."
