THE village shop in Leys Road, Harvington, has taken on a new lease of life, with new owners and a new look.
The former J and S Stores has been bought by Hillvale Ltd., a company owned by three Vale men, refurbished and re-opened as a Spar shop.
Spokesman for Hillvale Sam Campagna said that three years ago they took over the shop and post office in Badsey and turned that business round into a thriving concern well supported by the local community.
They bought the Harvington shop a month ago and it is now up and running after refurbishment, and Mr Campagna said: "Villagers have had to go into town to do their shopping since the shop closed and we hope that having made the premises shopper-friendly once again they will come back here. "
He added: "People are gradually coming back and seem to be supporting us and I hope it will carry on and we want to be able to offer even more services in the future. We want to make the shop an invaluable village asset."
