AN appeal has gone out for people to give a mother and child from Belarus a holiday in their home for two weeks this summer.

The Evesham Group of the Chernobyl Children's Project needs hosts in the Evesham area from August 3 and 17.

Jenny Powis, project spokesman, explained: "The child will be about five or six and even a short stay in this country has been shown to give an invaluable boost to children's immune systems, which have been damaged as a result of the Chernobyl disaster of 1986.

"Regular outings are arranged to meet others from the same group and an interpreter is on hand to help with any language difficulties. Hosting can be time-consuming but very rewarding and assistance and advice is provided by fellow hosts."

Anyone who feels they would enjoy hosting is asked to contact Jenny Powis on 01386 792909 for more information.
